Wake Up to the DREAM Act!

KRCC's youth group, Fighting Youth Shouting Out for Humanity (FYSH), designed and delivered hand-made pillows to Congress members to urge them to "wake up to the Dream Act." One of FYSH's targets, Rep. Bobby Rush, signed on as a co-sponsor on October 20, 2009!! FYSH had sent Rep. Rush 11 pillows over the past 4 months, visiting him in his D.C. and district office, and educating his office about the DREAM Act. Congratulations to FYSH for their hard work and let us continue to build the momentum to pass the DREAM Act this year!

Update on the October 23rd Congressional Hearings held in D.C. for the DREAM Act

On October 23rd, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA) organized congressional briefings to garner more co-sponsorship for the DREAM Act. Staffers from Congress members that have yet to co-sponsor were invited and NAKASEC reached out to seven House of Representatives. The hearing brought 20 Senate offices and 15 House offices together, the vast majority of who were not co-sponsors. Dream students shared their testimonies on how the DREAM Act would impact their lives and their future.
